  • History and virtues

    ➙ Why cocoa beans

Originally from Amazonia, the beans of the cocoa tree, crushed and mixed with spices, were already used by the Olmecs 2000 years before our era to become a sacred plant for the Mayas and the Aztecs. Venerated for its nutritional and medicinal virtues, cocoa beans even became a currency in those days! The word chocolate is derived from the “chocoe” of the Mayan language and the “tchocolatl” of the Aztecs.

The cocoa tree entered Europe in 1528, first through Spain. It arrived to France with the event of the wedding of Anne of Austria, daughter of King Philippe the third of Spain to Louis XIII in 1615.

    ➙ Healthy and tasty

The psychostimulant, tonifying, anti-stress and natural anti-depressant effects of Tea and Cocoa beans are the result of the activity of several molecules like theobromine and magnesium, common to tea and cocoa beans.

The flavonoids of cocoa, but also of tea are responsible for the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunostimulating effects. Protectors of the cardiovascular and cerebral system, they also have lipolytic (fat burner) effects.
